In the rapidly evolving world of blockchain and cryptocurrency, the role of smart contract auditors has become increasingly crucial. These entities are responsible for ensuring the security and reliability of smart contracts, which are the backbone of various blockchain applications. To assist stakeholders in selecting the most suitable auditor for their needs, we have conducted a comprehensive analysis of 17 leading smart contract auditing firms. This article presents our findings using the Quadrant framework, a tool widely recognized for evaluating technology services.
Methodology
Our analysis is based on a set of key criteria, which include Trustworthiness, Media Presence, Speed, Expertise, Price, and Quality. Each auditor was evaluated against these criteria, and their performance was quantified on a scale of 0 to 10. The Quadrant is divided into four categories: Leaders, Challengers, Niche Players, and Visionaries. We plotted the auditors on the quadrant using two primary axes:
X-Axis (Expertise and Quality): This axis represents the average of the auditors' scores in Expertise and Quality.
Y-Axis (Trust and Engagement): This axis represents the average of the scores in Trustworthiness and Media Presence.

2The quadrant is useful as a starting point for questions. I would still compare actual reports for the same kind of protocol before choosing an auditor. The comparison could include the original scope and the remediation record. That would give the chart's labels something concrete to point toward. How would the placement change for a firm with strong evidence in only one protocol category?
What evidence places a firm on each axis? Keeping the underlying observations dated would make future changes to the chart easier to assess.
